5 Years – Wood

This was a real collaborative effort & a joy to work with such a talented man.. @chrisjenkinsartist came to me with an idea that he’d had for his wife’s 5th wedding anniversary gift (the equally talented @johummelnewell ) Traditionally represented by wood, which has proved to be a tricky one for me to combine with silver in the past. Chris’s idea combined both of our skills, he hand carved some pieces of mahogany into asymmetric shapes (his wife’s favourite) & asked that I inlay 5 silver stars (representing 5 years of marriage) in the shape of a star constellation. I then set the whole piece into a flush, chunky silver mount to give it a contemporary, slick finish. On the reverse, I hand inscribed the lyrics of their favourite song …. She loved it.. Phew!!!
